Brewing Process
- 1
Prepare the Water
In a large pot, bring 500 ml of filtered water to a boil.
- 2
Add Malted Barley
Once the water has reached a boil, add 150 g of malted barley. Stir the mixture and allow it to simmer for 30 minutes to extract the flavors from the barley.
- 3
Add Hops
After 30 minutes, add 10 g of hops to the pot. Continue to simmer the mixture for an additional 15 minutes.
- 4
- 5
Add Yeast
Once cooled, sprinkle 5 g of lager yeast over the mixture. Stir gently to combine, then cover the pot with a clean cloth.
- 6
Fermentation
Allow the mixture to ferment at room temperature for 5-7 days. Check for bubbles in the mixture, which indicates fermentation is occurring.
- 7
Add Corn Sugar
After fermentation, dissolve 10 g of corn sugar in a small amount of warm water and add this to the fermented mixture. This will carbonate your pilsner.
- 8
Flavoring
- 9
Add Citrus Zest
After carbonation, open a bottle and add 1 tsp of lemon zest and 1 tsp of lime zest to enhance the flavor.
- 10
Garnish with Mint
To serve, pour the pilsner into a glass and garnish it with fresh mint leaves for an aromatic touch.
