Chocolate Layer

Method

Chocolate Layer Preparation

  1. 1

    Melt the Chocolate

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate and coconut oil. Microwave on high in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth.

  2. 2

    Spread in Pan

Line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper. Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the dish and spread it evenly across the bottom. Place in the freezer to set for about 15 minutes.

Caramel Layer Preparation

  1. 3

    Blend the Caramel

In a food processor, combine the pitted dates, nut butter, vanilla extract, and sea salt. Blend until smooth and creamy. If the mixture is too thick, add a teaspoon of water at a time until desired consistency is reached.

  2. 4

    Spread the Caramel

Remove the chocolate layer from the freezer. Spread the caramel mixture evenly over the chocolate layer and return to the freezer to set for another 15 minutes.

Nut Layer Preparation

  1. 5

    Add the Nuts

Once the caramel layer has set, remove from the freezer and sprinkle the mixed nuts evenly over the caramel layer. Press them gently into the caramel.

Final Chocolate Layer

  1. 6

    Finish with Chocolate

Melt an additional 1/2 cup of dark chocolate, and pour it over the nut layer, spreading it evenly. Return to the freezer for about 30 minutes or until fully set.

Serving

  1. 7

    Cut and Serve

Once the candy bar is fully set, lift it out of the dish using the parchment paper. Cut into bars or squares. Enjoy your homemade candy bar!
