Base Ingredients

Herbs and Botanicals

Sweetening and Flavoring

Method

Preparation of Base

  1. 1

    Combine Alcohol and Water

In a large glass jar, combine 500 ml of grain alcohol and 250 ml of water. Stir well to ensure they are mixed thoroughly.

Infusing Botanicals

  1. 2

    Add Botanicals

To the jar containing the alcohol mixture, add the dried wormwood, sweet orange peel, gentian root, cinnamon stick, cloves, and cardamom pods. Ensure that all herbs are submerged.

  2. 3

    Seal and Store

Seal the jar tightly and store it in a dark, cool place for 2 to 3 weeks. Shake the jar gently every few days to help with the infusion process.

Sweetening and Finalizing

  1. 4

    Strain the Mixture

After 2 to 3 weeks, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean jar to remove the solids.

  2. 5

    Add Sugar and Vanilla

In a saucepan, combine 100 g of sugar with a small amount of water (enough to dissolve the sugar). Heat gently until the sugar is fully dissolved. Once dissolved, add the mixture to the strained infusion along with the split vanilla bean.

  3. 6

    Final Mix

Stir the mixture well to combine all ingredients. Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary by adding more sugar if desired.

Bottling

  1. 7

    Bottle the Amaro

Using a funnel, carefully transfer the finished Amaro Nardini into clean, sterilized bottles. Seal tightly and store in a cool dark place.

  2. 8

    Enjoy

Let the Amaro rest for a few weeks to allow the flavors to meld before enjoying it neat, on the rocks, or as part of your favorite cocktail.
