Ribeye Steak

Mashed Potatoes

Method

Ribeye Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the ribeye steak out of the refrigerator 30 minutes prior to cooking, allowing it to come to room temperature. This helps in even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the steak with olive oil, then generously season both sides with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

  3. 3

    Heat the Pan

Heat a cast-iron skillet or heavy pan over medium-high heat. Ensure the pan is very hot before adding the steak.

  4. 4

    Cook the Steak

Place the seasoned ribeye steak in the hot skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it, until a crust forms. Flip the steak and add butter and rosemary to the skillet.

  5. 5

    Baste the Steak

Baste the steak with the melted butter from the skillet using a spoon. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting time for desired doneness.

  6. 6

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Mashed Potatoes

  1. 7

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and cut the potatoes into evenly sized chunks, about 1-2 inches.

  2. 8

    Boil the Potatoes

Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil and cook for 15-20 minutes or until fork-tender.

  3. 9

    Drain and Mash

Drain the potatoes in a colander and return them to the pot. Use a potato masher or a ricer to mash the potatoes until smooth.

  4. 10

    Add Butter and Milk

Add the butter and milk to the mashed potatoes. Stir until well combined and creamy. Season with additional salt and black pepper to taste.

  5. 11

    Serve

Serve the mashed potatoes alongside the sliced ribeye steak.
