Method
Preparation
Measure and grind
Weigh or measure 0.375 cups (about 40–45 grams) of La Boca House Blend or Italian Roast Decaf whole bean coffee. Grind to match your brewing method: medium-coarse for French press, medium for drip or pour-over, and fine for espresso.
Heat water
Heat 12 oz (about 355 ml) of fresh, filtered water to the appropriate temperature: 195–205°F (90–96°C) for regular brew methods, or as recommended for your equipment. If using a drip machine, the machine will heat to the proper temperature automatically.
Brewing (choose method)
Pour-over (Hario V60, Chemex, etc.)
Place a paper filter in the dripper and rinse with hot water to remove paper taste and preheat the vessel. Add the ground coffee to the filter and level the bed. Start a timer and pour just enough water (about 60–70 ml) to bloom the coffee for 30–45 seconds. After blooming, pour in slow, concentric circles, bringing the total water to 12 oz (355 ml). Aim for a total brew time of 2:30–3:30 minutes. Remove the dripper and serve.
Drip coffee maker
Place a paper filter in the basket and add the ground coffee. Pour 12 oz (355 ml) of filtered water into the reservoir (adjust if making larger pot). Start the machine; brewing time will vary by machine (typically 4–6 minutes). Once brewing is complete, discard the grounds and serve.
French press
Add the ground coffee to the French press. Pour all 12 oz (355 ml) of hot water evenly over the grounds, stirring gently to saturate. Place the lid with plunger up and let steep for 4 minutes (adjust 3–5 minutes by taste). Slowly press the plunger down and pour immediately to avoid over-extraction.
Espresso-style (if using decaf beans suitable for espresso)
Dose and tamp appropriate for your machine (typical single shot 7–9 g, double 14–18 g — adjust proportions to yield desired shot volume). Pull the shot per your machine's recommended time (typically 25–35 seconds). Use the espresso as a base for drinks (americano, latte) or dilute with hot water to reach an equivalent 12 oz cup strength.
Finishing & Serving
If desired, add milk, cream, or milk alternative to taste. Typical additions: 2 oz milk for a creamier cup or 1 oz heavy cream for richness. Stir in 1 tsp sugar or flavored syrup if desired, and add a pinch (1/8 tsp) of salt to round flavors if using.
Serve immediately while hot. Store any leftover brewed coffee in a thermal carafe for up to 1–2 hours; for best flavor, avoid reheating brewed coffee.
Clean equipment: discard grounds and rinse the brewer. If using a French press, remove grounds promptly; if using a machine, follow manufacturer cleaning guidance.
