Cocktail Base

Method

Prep & Rim

  1. 1

Chill a 20 oz serving glass (collins or large rocks glass) in the freezer for a few minutes or fill with ice to cool while preparing the drink.

  2. 2

Rub a lime wedge around the rim of the chilled glass. Dip the rim into coarse salt or Tajín placed on a small plate to create an even rim. Set glass aside.

Shake & Mix

  1. 3

    Build in shaker

Fill a cocktail shaker with a generous handful of ice (enough to chill well). Add 3 oz Sauza Silver tequila, 1 oz triple sec, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz fresh orange juice, 1.5 oz passion fruit purée, and 0.5 oz agave nectar (if using).

  2. 4

    Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is very cold and condensation forms on the outside.

  3. 5

    Strain

Discard the ice from the chilled serving glass (if you used ice to chill). Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared 20 oz glass over fresh ice using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine-mesh strainer to remove any seeds or large pulp pieces.

Finish & Garnish

  1. 6

Gently spoon or pour 0.25 oz passion fruit seeds/pulp on top of the drink to create a bright floating layer and intense aroma.

  2. 7

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Optionally give the garnish a light squeeze over the drink before serving.

  3. 8

Serve immediately with a straw and enjoy.
