Cake Components

Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. 3

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the creamed mixture, alternating with milk. Start and end with the flour mixture.

  5. 5

    Pour and Bake

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

  7. 7

    Frosting (optional)

Frost with your favorite frosting once the cakes are completely cooled.
