Instructions

  1. 1

    Preparation of Potatoes

Peel the Russet potatoes and cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick. Rinse them under cold water to remove excess starch, then pat them dry with a paper towel.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Soak the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour. This step helps to achieve crispy fries.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure the correct temperature.

  4. 4

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the soaked and dried potato strips to the hot oil in batches, without overcrowding the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.

  5. 5

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Immediately sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the French fries hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
