Preparation
- 1
Juicing the Lemons
Roll the fresh lemons on a countertop to loosen the juice. Cut them in half and use a juicer or your hands to extract the juice into a measuring cup. You should have about 1 cup of lemon juice.
- 2
Making the Sugar Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water with 1 cup of granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool.
- 3
Mixing the Lemonade
In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, the cooled sugar syrup, and the remaining 3 cups of water. Stir well to combine.

Serving
If desired, add ice cubes to individual glasses. Pour the lemonade over the ice, and garnish with lemon slices and mint leaves if desired.
