Method

Prepare the Fries

  1. 1

    Cut the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into long strips to form fries.

  2. 2

    Fry the Potatoes

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potato strips in batches until golden brown, about 4-6 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels. Season with salt.

Prepare the Slaw

  1. 3

    Chop the Vegetables

Finely shred the green cabbage and grate the carrot.

  2. 4

    Mix the Slaw

In a large bowl, combine the cabbage, carrot, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Prepare the Tartar Sauce

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, dill pickles, capers, lemon juice, and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Refrigerate until serving.

Prepare the Fish

  1. 6

    Make the Batter

In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add the beer until you achieve a smooth batter.

  2. 7

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 8

    Batter and Fry the Fish

Dip each cod fillet into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil and fry for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
