Method
Preparing the Patty
- 1
Mixing Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine 1 lb of ground beef with 1 tsp of salt, 1 tsp of black pepper, and 1 tsp of garlic powder. Mix gently until all ingredients are combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- 2
Forming the Patties
Divide the mixture into two equal portions, approximately 6 oz each. Shape each portion into a round patty that is slightly wider than the burger buns, as they will shrink while cooking. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Grilling the Patties
Place the patties on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without pressing down on them. Flip the patties and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium doneness. If you are adding cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
Assembling the Burger

Prepare the Buns
While the burgers are grilling, cut the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill for the last minute of cooking.
