Method
Croutons
- 1
Prepare the Bread
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the French bread into small cubes, about 1-inch in size, until you have about 4 cups.
- 2
Season the Croutons
In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread cubes, olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss until the bread is evenly coated.
- 3
Bake the Croutons
Spread the seasoned bread cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the croutons are golden brown and crispy, stirring halfway through. Once done, remove from the oven and let them cool.
Salad Assembly
- 4
Prepare the Romaine
While the croutons are baking, wash the romaine lettuce under cold water. Remove the outer leaves and chop the inner leaves into bite-sized pieces.
- 5
Assemble the Salad
In a large salad bowl, combine the chopped romaine lettuce and the cooled croutons. Add the grated Parmesan cheese on top.
- 6
Serve
Toss the salad gently to mix the ingredients. Serve immediately with your favorite Caesar dressing, if desired.
