Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
Slice the chicken breast into thin strips. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
- 2
Cooking
- 3
Cook the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken strips and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and no longer pink. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- 4
Sauté the Vegetables
In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Add the chopped onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
- 5
Combine Chicken and Vegetables
Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Mix well and let cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to meld the flavors.
- 6
Melt the Cheese
Turn down the heat to low and add the cheese on top of the chicken and vegetable mixture. Cover the skillet for a few minutes until the cheese is melted.
Assembly
- 7
Prepare the Rolls
While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls in half lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
- 8
Fill the Rolls
Once the cheese has melted, scoop the chicken and vegetable mixture into each hoagie roll.
- 9
Add Toppings
Top each sandwich with lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and hot peppers according to personal preference.
- 10
Serve
Serve immediately while hot, and enjoy your BYO Kid Sheleen's Philly Chicken Cheesesteak!
