Cook the Lentils
In a medium saucepan, add 1 cup of lentils and 3 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for about 20-25 minutes or until tender. Drain and let cool.

Sauté the Onion and Garlic
In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add 0.5 cups of chopped onion and sauté for 5 minutes until translucent. Add 2 tsp of minced garlic and cook for an additional minute. Remove from heat and let cool.
Mixing and Forming

Combine Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked lentils, sautéed onion and garlic, 1 cup of breadcrumbs, 0.5 cups of grated Parmesan cheese, 0.25 cups of chopped fresh parsley, and 1 whole egg.

Add Spices
Sprinkle in 1 tsp of salt, 0.5 tsp of black pepper, 1 tsp of dried oregano, 1 tsp of dried basil, and 0.5 tsp of red chili flakes. Mix everything together until well combined.

Form the Meatballs
Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, approximately 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.

Cook the Meatballs
In the same skillet, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
