Meatballs

Method

Meatball Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Meatball Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and ground nutmeg. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into small meatballs about 1 inch in diameter. Make sure they are uniform in size for even cooking.

  3. 3

    Cook the Meatballs

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set them aside.

Creamy Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Make the Roux

In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to create a roux, cooking for about 2 minutes until golden brown.

  2. 5

    Add the Broth and Cream

Slowly whisk in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Once simmering, stir in the heavy cream, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  3. 6

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Return the meatballs to the skillet and coat them in the creamy sauce. Let them simmer for an additional 5 minutes to heat through.

  4. 7

    Serve

Garnish the meatballs with chopped parsley and serve warm with mashed potatoes or noodles.
