Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Bake the Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through and browned.

Spaghetti

  1. 4

    Boil the Water

In a large pot, bring 4 liters of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt.

  2. 5

    Cook the Spaghetti

Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.

  3. 6

    Drain the Spaghetti

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.

Tomato Sauce

  1. 7

    Sauté the Onions and Garlic

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  2. 8

    Prepare the Sauce

Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the skillet. Stir to combine.

  3. 9

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 10

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the tomato sauce and let them simmer together for an additional 10 minutes.

Assembly

  1. 11

    Serve

To serve, place a portion of spaghetti on a plate, top with meatballs and sauce, and garnish with extra Parmesan cheese and parsley if desired.
