Meatballs
Marinara Sauce
Method
Meatballs Preparation
- 1
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, minced garlic, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix until everything is well combined.
- 2
Form Meatballs
Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 3
Cook Meatballs
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Marinara Sauce Preparation
- 4
Sauté Vegetables
In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- 5
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the skillet. Stir to combine.
- 6
Simmer Sauce
Bring the sauce to a simmer. Cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
- 7
Combine Meatballs and Sauce
Add the cooked meatballs back into the skillet with the marinara sauce. Simmer for an additional 10 minutes to heat through and allow flavors to meld.
- 8
Finish with Basil
Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before serving.
