Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Once the yeast mixture is frothy, pour it into the flour mixture along with the olive oil. Mix until a dough starts to form.

  4. 4

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Shaping and Baking

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 7

    Shape Knots

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope (about 10 inches), then tie it into a knot.

  3. 8

    Bake Knots

Place the knots on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Garlic Butter Preparation

  1. 9

    Melt Butter

In a saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.

  2. 10

    Add Garlic and Parsley

Once melted, add minced garlic and cook for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat and stir in chopped parsley and salt.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 11

    Cook Sauce

In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute.

  2. 12

    Combine Ingredients

Add canned crushed tomatoes, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serving

  1. 13

    Serve
