Pork Belly Buns
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Pork Belly
Preheat your oven to 160°C (320°F). Score the skin of the pork belly in a diamond pattern, then season it with soy sauce, honey, and five spice powder. Place in a roasting pan and cover with foil.
- 2
Roast the Pork
Roast the pork belly in the preheated oven for about 2 hours, then remove the foil and increase the temperature to 220°C (428°F). Roast for an additional 30 minutes or until the skin is crispy.
- 3
Pickle the Cucumber
While the pork is roasting, thinly slice the cucumber and toss it with rice vinegar, a pinch of salt, and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
- 4
Prepare the Buns
Steam the bao buns according to package instructions until soft and fluffy.
- 5
Assemble the Buns
Once the pork is done, allow it to rest for 10 minutes before slicing. In each bao bun, place a few slices of pork belly, a few pieces of pickled cucumber, add cilantro, and drizzle with sriracha and hoisin sauce to taste.
