Rinse the Swiss chard thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt or grit. Remove the stems from the leaves and chop the leaves coarsely. Set aside.

Place a steamer basket in a pot with a small amount of water (about 1 inch). Bring the water to a boil, then add the chopped Swiss chard to the steamer basket. Cover and steam for about 5-7 minutes, or until the leaves are tender but still vibrant in color.
