Churro Dough

Method

Churro Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil Water Mixture

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once the mixture is boiling, remove it from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour using a wooden spoon until the dough forms a ball.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Allow the dough to cool for a few minutes, then add 2 large eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix until fully incorporated and the dough is smooth.

Coating Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix Sugar and Cinnamon

In a shallow bowl, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon. Set aside for later use.

Frying Churros

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a large, deep pot, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Pipe Churros

Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Carefully pipe 4 to 6-inch strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors.

  3. 7

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown. Be sure not to overcrowd the pot.

  4. 8

    Drain and Coat

Once cooked, remove churros from the oil and drain on paper towels. While they are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until coated.
