Steak and Fries

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fries

Peel and cut the potatoes into thin strips. Soak them in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Fry the Potatoes

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 350°F (175°C). Drain and dry the potato strips, then fry them in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on paper towels, then season with salt.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Season the NY strip steak on both sides with salt and black pepper. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Once melted, add the steak and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting time for desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Make Garlic Butter

Mince the garlic and add it to the remaining melted butter in the skillet during the last minute of cooking the steak. Spoon the garlic butter over the steak.

  5. 5

    Serve

Plate the steak alongside the fries and drizzle with any remaining garlic butter from the skillet.
