Steak and Cheese

Garlic Toast

Method

Steak Preparation

1

Cook the Steak

Season the New York strip steak with salt and black pepper. Preheat the grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the steak for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing it thinly.

Garlic Toast Preparation

2

Prepare the Garlic Toast

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley. Slice the French bread in half lengthwise and spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on each half. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until toasted and golden.

Au Jus Preparation

3

Make the Au Jus

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, sliced onion, and minced garlic. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes until slightly reduced. Strain and set aside.

Assembly

4

Assemble the Dips

Layer the sliced steak on the toasted garlic bread, topping with grated Gruyère cheese. Place under the broiler for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Serve with warm au jus for dipping.
