Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the NY Strip Steak dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Make Garlic Butter

Melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add minced garlic (from 4 cloves) and cook gently until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Preheat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Add the steak and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the steak and spoon some of the garlic butter over the top. Continue to cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Mashed Potatoes

  1. 4

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and quarter the potatoes. Place them in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil over high heat and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 5

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot. Add 1 cup of milk, 2 tablespoons of butter, and additional salt and pepper to taste. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Vegetable Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare the Vegetables

In a large bowl, toss the broccoli and carrots with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, salt, and black pepper to taste.

  2. 7

    Cook the Vegetables

Preheat a skillet over medium heat. Add the seasoned vegetables and sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are tender but still crisp.
