Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add Boiling Water

Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. Note that the batter will be thin.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cakes

Remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.

Assembly and Serving

  1. 7

    Layer the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of Hershey chocolate syrup over the top.

  2. 8

    Add the Second Layer

Place the second cake layer on top of the first. Drizzle more Hershey chocolate syrup on top.

  3. 9

Top with Raspberry Sauce and Whipped Topping

Drizzle raspberry sauce over the cake and dollop whipped topping on each slice when serving.
