Breakfast Pastries

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, active dry yeast, and salt. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Heat the Milk

In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until warm (not hot). Remove from heat.

  3. 3

    Add Butter and Eggs

Add the butter to the warm milk, stirring until melted. Let it cool slightly, then whisk in the eggs and vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until a soft dough forms.

  5. 5

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

  6. 6

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

  7. 7

    Shape the Pastries

Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface. Cut into desired shapes (triangles, circles, etc.) and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  8. 8

    Second Rise

Cover the shaped pastries with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

  9. 9

    Preheat Oven

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  10. 10

    Bake the Pastries

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

  11. 11

    Serve

Let the pastries cool slightly before serving with cream cheese, preserves, and butter.
