Method

Making the Cream Mixture

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cream

In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks and granulated sugar together until the mixture is thick and pale.

  2. 2

Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract to the egg yolk mixture and gently fold until smooth and well combined.

  3. 3

In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

  4. 4

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until no streaks remain.

Preparing the Coffee Mixture

  1. 5

    Brew Coffee

Brew a strong cup of coffee and let it cool to room temperature.

  2. 6

If using, stir the coffee liqueur into the cooled coffee.

Assembling the Tiramisu

  1. 7

    Dip Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, making sure they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 8

Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a rectangular dish.

  3. 9

    Layer the Cream

Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the layer of ladyfingers.

  4. 10

Repeat the process with another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone cream.

  5. 11

    Chill and Serve

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

  6. 12

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder for garnish.
