Prepare the Glass
If you prefer a salted rim, run a lime wedge around the rim of the glass and dip it into a plate of salt. Set aside.

Mix the Ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, lime juice, and triple sec. Fill the shaker with ice.

Shake the Mixture
Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to chill the mixture.

Strain and Serve
Strain the mixture into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice, or serve it straight up in a chilled glass.

Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim of the glass if desired.
