Method

Burger Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Mixture

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side.

  2. 4

    Add Cheese

Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cook for another 4-5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the patties reach your desired doneness.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the patties are cooking, wash and slice the tomato. Set aside the lettuce leaves.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Burger

Toast the burger buns lightly if desired. On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and your desired amount of ketchup and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
