Cooking Instructions
- 1
Preparation
Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C).
- 2
Season the Roast
In a small bowl, mix kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and chopped fresh rosemary. Rub the mixture all over the prime rib roast, ensuring it is evenly coated.
- 3
Sear the Roast
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the roast on all sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- 4
Roasting
Transfer the seared roast to a roasting pan and place it in the preheated oven. Roast until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare, approximately 3-4 hours.
- 5
Resting
Remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before slicing to allow the juices to redistribute.
- 6
Serving
Slice the prime rib against the grain and serve with your choice of sides.
