Method
Preparation of the Patty
- 1
Prepare the Patty
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- 2
Form the Patty
Shape the mixture into a patty approximately 1/3 lb in weight. Make a slight indentation in the center of the patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.
Cooking the Patty
- 3
Preheat the Grill
Preheat your grill or charbroiler to medium-high heat.
- 4
Cook the Patty
Place the patty on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium doneness.
- 5
Add Cheese (if desired)
If adding cheese, place a slice on the patty during the last minute of cooking and close the grill lid to melt.
Assembling the Burger
- 6
Toast the Bun
While the patty is cooking, cut the brioche bun in half and toast it lightly on the grill until golden brown.
- 7
Layer the Toppings
On the bottom half of the toasted bun, layer shredded lettuce, followed by the cooked patty, sliced tomato, onion, and pickles. If using bacon, add it on top of the pickles.
- 8
Finish the Burger
Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
