Method
Prepare the Protein
Cook the Meat
In a skillet over medium heat, cook 1 lb of ground beef or chicken until browned and fully cooked, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
Add Seasoning
Stir in the taco seasoning and follow the package instructions. Add a small amount of water if necessary to help combine.
Prepare the Taco Shells
Warm the Hard Shells
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and place the hard taco shells on a baking sheet. Warm them in the oven for about 5 minutes.
Warm the Soft Tortillas
In a dry skillet over medium heat, warm the soft flour tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.
Assemble the Tacos
Layer Ingredients
For each taco, place 2-3 tablespoons of cooked meat into the shell (hard or soft), then add a layer of refried beans, followed by cooked rice.
Add Toppings
Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded cheddar cheese.
Serve
Prepare Plates
Serve the tacos on plates with a side of tortilla chips and salsa for dipping.
