Pretzel Dough Preparation

Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Make Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and kosher salt. Add the yeast mixture and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Shaping and Boiling

Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Shape Pretzel Sticks
Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long stick, about 10 inches in length.

Prepare Baking Soda Bath
In a large pot, bring the 10 cups of water to a boil and add the baking soda. Carefully add the pretzel sticks to the boiling water for about 30 seconds.

Transfer to Baking Sheet
Remove the pretzel sticks from the water and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with kosher salt.

Bake the pretzel sticks in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
