Main Ingredients

Marinade Ingredients

Method

Marinating the Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, black pepper, and salt.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Slice the flank steak (or chicken) into thin strips and place them in the marinade. Allow it to marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator for more flavor.

Cooking the Vegetables

  1. 3

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet over medium heat, add a bit of oil if necessary. Add the sliced onions, green bell pepper, and mushrooms. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender and slightly caramelized.

Cooking the Meat

  1. 4

    Cook the Steak

In the same skillet, push the vegetables to the side and add the marinated steak (or chicken). Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the meat is browned and cooked through.

Assembling the Sandwich

  1. 5

    Melt the Cheese

Once the meat is cooked, layer the American and Swiss cheese over the steak and cover the skillet for 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Sub Rolls

Slice the sub rolls in half lengthwise and toast them lightly if desired.

  3. 7

    Build the Sandwich

Spoon the steak and vegetable mixture onto each toasted sub roll, ensuring an equal distribution of meat and veggies.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve Hot

Serve the sandwiches hot, optionally with your favorite condiments like ketchup or hot sauce.
