Method

For the Mozzarella Sticks

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese

Take the mozzarella cheese sticks and freeze them for at least 1 hour. This will help them hold their shape while frying.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In one bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In a second bowl, beat the eggs. In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

  3. 3

    Bread the Cheese Sticks

Remove the cheese sticks from the freezer. Dredge each stick in the flour, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the beaten eggs, then coat it in the breadcrumb mixture. Press the breadcrumbs onto the sticks to ensure they adhere well.

  4. 4

    Chill Again

Once all the sticks are breaded, place them on a baking sheet and freeze for an additional 30 minutes.

  5. 5

    Fry the Cheese Sticks

In a deep pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the cheese sticks in batches, frying them for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

For the Marinara Sauce

  1. 6

    Sauté Garlic

In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic cloves and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  2. 7

    Combine Ingredients

Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, and salt to the saucepan. Stir well to combine.

  3. 8

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer, reduce the heat to low, and let it cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
