Method
Pizza Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Make Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Garlic Butter Preparation
- 5
Melt Butter
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add minced garlic and dried parsley, stirring until fragrant (about 2 minutes). Remove from heat.
Pizza Assembly
- 6
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone inside to heat.
- 7
Roll Out Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thinness.
- 8
Brush with Garlic Butter
Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a pizza peel or baking sheet. Brush the surface generously with the prepared garlic butter.
- 9
Add Cheese and Seasonings
Spread the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough. Sprinkle dried oregano, dried basil, and crushed red pepper flakes on top.
- 10
Bake Pizza
Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone in the oven. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
- 11
Let Cool and Slice
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
Marinara Sauce Preparation
- 12
Cook Sauce
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine olive oil and minced garlic. Sauté until fragrant. Add crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and sugar. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 13
Add Fresh Basil
Stir in chopped fresh basil leaves and let the sauce simmer for another 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
