Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation of Garlic Tomato Mayo

  1. 1

    Make the Garlic Tomato Mayo

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, minced garlic, tomato paste, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined. Set aside.

Assembling the Italian Melts

  1. 2

    Prepare the Ingredients

Lay out 4 slices of San Francisco white bread on a clean surface. Spread a generous amount of the garlic tomato mayo on one side of each slice.

  2. 3

    Layer the Meats and Cheese

On top of the mayo, layer the salami, turkey, and pepperoni evenly. Add two slices of provolone cheese on top of the meats.

  3. 4

    Add Vegetables

On top of the cheese, add a layer of lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and sliced pepperoncinis.

  4. 5

    Top the Sandwiches

Place the remaining 4 slices of bread on top of the assembled ingredients, mayo side down.

Toasting the Melts

  1. 6

    Toast the Sandwiches

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Once hot, place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Serving

  1. 7

    Slice and Serve

Once toasted, remove the sandwiches from the skillet, slice them in half, and serve warm with additional garlic tomato mayo on the side if desired.
