Chicken Tenders

Breading Mixture

Method

Preparing the Chicken

  1. 1

    Cut the Chicken

Trim the chicken breasts of any excess fat and cut them into tender-sized strips, approximately 1-2 inches wide.

  2. 2

    Marinate in Buttermilk

In a bowl, combine the buttermilk and egg. Whisk together until well combined. Add the chicken tenders to the mixture, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.

Preparing the Breading

  1. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.

Frying the Tenders

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the heat by dropping a small amount of the breading mixture into the oil; it should sizzle immediately.

  2. 5

    Coat the Chicken

Remove the chicken tenders from the buttermilk marinade, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge each tender in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to ensure an even coat. Shake off any excess breading.

  3. 6

    Fry the Tenders

Carefully place the breaded chicken tenders into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry in batches for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).

  4. 7

    Drain and Serve

Once cooked, transfer the chicken tenders to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
