Pork

Buns and Toppings

Method

Preparing the Pork

  1. 1

    Season the Pork

In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Rub this spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Cooking Liquid

In a separate bowl, combine apple cider vinegar and water. Pour this mixture into the bottom of your slow cooker.

  3. 3

    Cook the Pork

Place the seasoned pork shoulder into the slow cooker, cover, and cook on low for 10 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

Finishing Touches

  1. 4

    Shred the Pork

Once the pork is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and let it rest for about 15 minutes. Then, using two forks, shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Buns

While the pork is resting, slice the ciabatta rolls in half and lightly butter the cut sides. Toast them on a skillet or griddle until golden brown.

  3. 6

    Assemble the Sandwiches

On the bottom half of each toasted ciabatta roll, place a generous amount of shredded pork. Top with pickles and sliced onions. Add BBQ sauce on the side or drizzle it over the pork.
