Prepare Taco Shells

Cook the Ground Beef
In the same skillet, add the ground beef over medium heat. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

Cook the Chicken
If using chicken breast, season with salt, pepper, and half of the chili powder. Cook in a separate skillet for 6-8 minutes per side, until fully cooked. Shred with two forks.

Prepare Black Beans
If using black beans, drain and rinse them. Heat in a small saucepan over medium heat until warmed through.
Season the Protein

Season the Beef or Beans
Add the remaining chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, and salt to the cooked ground beef or black beans. Stir well and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
Assemble Tacos

Fill the Tacos
Take a warm tortilla and fill it with your choice of cooked protein. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, salsa, sour cream, and slices of avocado.

Place the filled tacos on a serving plate and enjoy immediately!
