Method
Dumpling Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the shrimp, grated ginger, minced garlic, chopped green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- 2
Assemble the Dumplings
Take a wonton wrapper and place about 1 tablespoon of the shrimp filling in the center. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water. Fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle and press the edges to seal. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
Cooking the Dumplings
- 3
Pan-Fry the Dumplings
Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat and add a tablespoon of oil. Place the dumplings in the pan in a single layer, making sure they are not touching each other. Cook for about 3-4 minutes or until the bottoms are golden brown.
- 4
Steam the Dumplings
Add about 1/4 cup of water to the pan and cover immediately with a lid. Allow the dumplings to steam for about 5-6 minutes, until the filling is cooked through.
- 5
Crisp the Dumplings
Remove the lid and continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing any remaining water to evaporate and the bottoms to become crispy again.
Dipping Sauce Preparation
- 6
Mix the Sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey, and chili flakes until well combined. Adjust the flavors to taste.
