Method

Preparation of Base

  1. 1

    Prepare the Espresso

Brew 1 cup of espresso coffee and let it cool to room temperature.

  2. 2

    Mix Coffee with Liqueur

In a shallow dish, combine the cooled espresso with 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.

  3. 3

    Dip Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the espresso mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Arrange them in a single layer in a 9x13 inch dish.

Preparation of Mascarpone Mixture

  1. 4

    Whisk Egg Yolks and Sugar

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the 3 egg yolks and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until the mixture becomes pale and thick.

  2. 5

    Add Mascarpone

Gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the egg yolk mixture until well combined.

  3. 6

    Whip Heavy Cream

In another bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

  4. 7

    Combine Cream and Mascarpone

Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until smooth. Add in the vanilla extract and mix gently.

Assembly and Serving

  1. 8

    Layer the Mascarpone Mixture

Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of ladyfingers in the dish.

  2. 9

    Add Another Layer of Ladyfingers

Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers on top, then spread the remaining mascarpone mixture over it.

  3. 10

    Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.

  4. 11

    Serve with Toppings

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings.
