Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Gather Ingredients

Collect all ingredients needed for the recipe: 9oz grass-fed top sirloin steak, olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and fresh rosemary if desired.

  2. 2

    Bring Steak to Room Temperature

Remove the top sirloin from the refrigerator and allow it to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps the steak cook evenly.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a cast-iron skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes until hot.

  2. 4

    Season the Steak

Pat the steak dry with paper towels. Rub both sides with olive oil, then season generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

  3. 5

    Sear the Steak

Place the steak in the hot skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it to develop a nice crust.

  4. 6

    Flip the Steak

Using tongs, flip the steak and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is reached. If using rosemary, add it to the pan during the last minute of cooking for flavor.

  5. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and place it on a cutting board. Cover loosely with foil and let it rest for about 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.

  6. 8

    Slice and Serve

After resting, slice the steak against the grain into thin strips and serve immediately.
