Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the Angus KC Strip Steak dry with paper towels. Generously season both sides with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Let the steak sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to enhance the flavor.

  2. 2

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet or cast-iron pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers and is hot but not smoking.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Place the seasoned steak in the hot pan. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a nice crust forms. Flip the steak and cook the other side for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare. Adjust the time for your preferred doneness.

  4. 4

    Add Rosemary

In the last minute of cooking, add fresh rosemary to the pan and spoon some of the oil and juices over the steak to infuse flavor.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for about 5-10 minutes before slicing to allow the juices to redistribute.

Side Dish Preparation (optional)

  1. 6

    Prepare Mashed Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into chunks. Boil them in salted water until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and return to the pot.

  2. 7

    Mash Potatoes

Add butter and milk to the drained potatoes. Mash until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  3. 8

    Cook Green Beans

In a separate pot, bring water to a boil. Add green beans and cook for about 5 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and season with salt and pepper.
