Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna

Pat the fresh tuna steak dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.

  2. 2

    Coat with Sesame Seeds

Spread sesame seeds on a plate and press the tuna steak into the seeds to coat both sides thoroughly.

  3. 3

    Pan Seer the Tuna

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the sesame-coated tuna steak. Sear for about 1-2 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until cooked to your liking.

  4. 4

    Slice the Tuna

Remove the tuna from the skillet and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Using a sharp knife, thinly slice the tuna steak against the grain.

  5. 5

    Prepare Honey Wasabi Sauce

In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, honey, and wasabi paste until well combined.

  6. 6

    Serve

Arrange the sliced tuna on a plate, drizzle with the honey wasabi sauce, and serve with pickled ginger on the side.
