Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Cook the Fettuccine

In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the fettuccine according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Mushrooms

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until they are golden brown and tender, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Alfredo Sauce

In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream, stirring continuously. Allow it to simmer for 2-3 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add Cheese and Season

Gradually whisk in the grated Romano cheese until the sauce is smooth. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  5. 5

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked fettuccine and sautéed mushrooms to the sauce, tossing to coat evenly. If desired, add cooked protein (chicken, shrimp, or salmon) at this stage and mix well.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve immediately, garnished with additional Romano cheese and freshly ground black pepper if desired.
