Pie Crust

Method

Pie Crust Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Pie Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Cut in the unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  2. 2

    Add Ice Water

Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overwork the dough.

  3. 3

    Chill the Dough

Shape the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  4. 4

    Roll Out the Dough

On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to fit a 9-inch pie pan. Place the rolled dough into the pan and trim the edges.

Filling Preparation

  1. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Prepare the Filling

In a large bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.

  3. 7

    Add Eggs

Add the eggs to the mixture, one at a time, whisking well after each addition until fully incorporated.

  4. 8

    Add Pecans

Fold in the chopped pecans until evenly distributed.

  5. 9

    Combine Filling and Crust

Pour the pecan filling into the prepared pie crust, smoothing the top with a spatula.

  6. 10

    Bake the Pie

Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown. The pie is done when a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. 11

    Cool and Serve

Allow the pie to cool for at least 2 hours before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
