Method

Gyro Meat Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meat Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb and ground beef. Add minced garlic, chopped onion, dried oregano, ground cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

  2. 2

    Shape the Meat

Shape the meat mixture into a loaf shape and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Drizzle olive oil over the top.

  3. 3

    Grill the Meat

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill the meat loaf for about 25-30 minutes, turning occasionally, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Remove from the grill and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Tzatziki Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, dill, lemon juice, and salt. Stir until all ingredients are mixed well.

  2. 5

    Chill the Sauce

Cover the Tzatziki sauce and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld together.

Sandwich Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Sandwich

Take a piece of pita bread and fill it with shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and sliced gyro meat. Drizzle with Tzatziki sauce.

  2. 7

    Serve

Wrap the pita sandwich in parchment paper or serve it open-faced on a plate. Enjoy your delicious Gyro Sandwich!
