Jalapeno Preparation

Dipping Sauce

Method

Jalapeno Preparation

  1. 1

    Wash and Prepare Jalapenos

Rinse the fresh jalapeno peppers under cold running water to remove any dirt or debris. Pat them dry with a clean towel.

  2. 2

    Slice and Remove Seeds

Using a sharp knife, slice each jalapeno in half lengthwise. Carefully remove the seeds and inner membranes with a spoon or knife for a milder heat level, or leave them in for more spice.

  3. 3

    Season the Peppers

In a bowl, mix the olive oil, salt, and garlic powder. Brush this mixture evenly over the cut sides of the jalapenos.

  4. 4

    Add Lime Juice

Drizzle lime juice over the seasoned jalapeno halves to enhance flavor.

Cooking

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. 6

    Bake Jalapenos

Place the prepared jalapeno halves cut side up on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are tender and lightly charred.

Dipping Sauce

  1. 7

    Mix Sauce Ingredients

In a medium-sized bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, chopped cilantro, lime juice, and garlic powder. Stir until well blended.

  2. 8

    Chill Dipping Sauce

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to allow flavors to meld.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve

Once the jalapenos are done baking, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. Serve warm with the chilled dipping sauce on the side.
