Method

Preparing the BBQ

  1. 1

    Prepare the BBQ Sauce

In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

  2. 2

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Allow it to cook for about 10 minutes until it thickens slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix with Meat

Once the sauce is ready, add the pulled pork or pulled chicken to the saucepan. Stir until the meat is well coated with the sauce and heated through, about 5 minutes.

Preparing the Sides

  1. 4

    Prepare the Coleslaw

If using pre-packaged coleslaw, simply place it in a serving bowl. If making from scratch, mix shredded cabbage and carrots with mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper in a bowl.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Cornbread

If using store-bought cornbread, follow the package instructions. If making from scratch, mix cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, milk, eggs, and melted butter, then bake it in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes.

  3. 6

    Heat the Baked Beans

Open the canned baked beans and heat them in a saucepan over medium heat until warm, about 5 minutes.

Assembling the Plate

  1. 7

    Plate the BBQ

On a large plate, serve a generous portion of the BBQ pulled pork or chicken along with the coleslaw, cornbread, and baked beans.

  2. 8

    Add the Drink

Include a small drink of your choice, either juice or soda, on the side.
